There are three (3) options available to cover loss and/or damages during your move.  If you wish to use Option 2, arrangements must be made at least 48 hours before the move begins.

OPTION 1 - STANDARD VALUATION:  All moves are automatically covered by the standard liability (valuation) for the industry, which is $0.60 per pound per article.  This amount will partially cover the costs to repair any damaged items, but not replaced them.  Certain items you have may not be adequately covered under this option.  BIG STAR MOVING has less than a 1% damage claim rate but it is recommended that insurance be purchased to cover very valuable or delicate items.  Another alternative is to move the valuable or delicate items yourself instead of buying extra insurance to protect those few items.

OPTION 2 - FULL COVERAGEIf you would like full coverage for all items, we recommend contacting Baker International Insurance at (800) 356-0093 and tell them this is for Corporate I.D. #12992.  Baker International's sales staff will quote you a price over the phone that covers 100% of the replacement value for all items.  For more information, CLICK HERE to be transferred to their website.  This is an independent agency not associated with BIG STAR MOVING.

OPTION 3 - HOME OWNER'S INSURANCE:   Your current home owner's insurance may already provide coverage for your move.  Please check your insurance policy to see if this coverage is provided to you.  Avoid purchasing extra insurance if you do not need it.

Regardless what coverage you have, since accidents can happen, even with the best and most careful of movers, we suggest you to wrap, pack and protect all delicate or breakable items with bubblewrapp and place them in carton boxes prior the moving date to minimize any chance of damages or scratches during the move.


And to file a claim, please contact your insurance or if you did not purchased any extra coverage, you are entitled to receive compensation under the basic valuation coverage included in all services. NOTES: Make sure your name, moving date, telephones and current address must be included in your document in order to process your request within 2-4 weeks.
